As research has shown, diet plays a key role in disease prevention showing that eating a complete and balanced diet is essential to maintaining good health, but what does this mean? Eating a nutritionally balanced meal means that during the course of the day, you are eating at least three meals, or if it suits you, five smaller meals. These meals need to include protein from either a variety of lean animal meats, eggs, lentils, beans, chickpeas, nuts & seeds, whole grains or low-fat dairy products. To balance your serve of protein, it is very important to include vegetables prepared from fresh or frozen. The process of canning does damage the nutritional content of vegetables so choosing either fresh or frozen sources are best.
